What are Ancillary Products?

Before being able to create my own ancillary products I first had to find out what the definition of an ancilary product is.

An Ancillary Product in terms of music videos is a secondary form of media which supports the album/single. The most recognisable ancillary products are CD Covers and also print advertisements. Now I knew what an ancillary product was I researched into 'real media texts' in order to give myself possible inspiration on how to construct the ancillary products.

First Cut Feedback

We received both positive and negative feedback following a presentation of our first cut. This enable us to improve our product.

The following points were made:

- The narrative was interesting and executed well
- NO PERFORMANCE ELEMENT - this is not conventional of the pop genre.
- The conventions of the genre are evident as the narrative can be related to a mass audience.

Responding to this feedback we intend to include an element of performance from our artist. This is due to several of our peers suggesting this as an area of improvement for our product as it would make the extract more genre conventional

EDITING : UPDATE #2

The major aspects of post production editing has begun. The song 'Something I Need' has been imported into Final Cut Pro and we are now editing the clips to go in time with the music and match the vision of our storyboards as much as possible. We have also attempted to match up James' lip syncing with the song, although a challenge at first due tot he complexity of getting the words to match the lip syncing exactly however this challenge has now been reprimanded.

EDITING : UPDATE #1

The first stage of the editing process has begun. So far all the footage has been taken off Leonie's IPhone and has been imported onto the Apple Mac and thus onto Final Cut Pro. All of the clips were then viewed in order to disregard any of the bad quality clips. The relevant clips were then placed in the narrative ordering in Final Cut pro. These clips now await further post-production editing.
